## Methodology

Monthly sales volume for Greater London from the UK House Price Index, the same document the average price comes from. Volume is the quieter series and the more sensitive one: buyers stop transacting months before sellers accept lower prices, so a downturn shows here first. The most recent months are provisional and revise upward as registrations catch up.

## Visualisations

- [Monthly volume](https://londongraph.com/g/how-many-homes-change-hands): Follow London's published monthly UK HPI transaction volume.
- [Seasonality](https://londongraph.com/g/how-many-homes-change-hands?view=seasonality): Arrange each year by month to expose repeated market-season patterns.
- [Monthly change](https://londongraph.com/g/how-many-homes-change-hands?view=change): Show the change in registered transaction volume from the preceding month.
- [Borough volumes](https://londongraph.com/g/how-many-homes-change-hands?view=boroughs): Compare the latest published transaction volume across London authorities. Caveat: Recent UK HPI transaction volumes are provisional and normally revise upward as registrations arrive.
