What this site keeps on your device
Almost nothing, and none of it describes you. Everything below is listed with what it holds, when it is written and how long it lasts — and whether it is on this device at this moment, so you can check rather than take our word for it.

Your analytics choicelondongraph.consent.v1local storage · no consent needed | The answer you gave the analytics question, so it is not asked again. | When you answer it. | Until you clear it. | — |
Google Analytics_ga, _ga_<id>cookie · needs consent | Identifies this browser across visits so page views are not counted as a new reader every time. | Only if you chose “Count me”. | Two years, or until you choose otherwise here. | — |
Clearing saved preferences loses your pinned cards, saved lenses and dashboards — they live only in this browser, so there is no copy to restore them from. Erase everything also removes the record of your analytics answer: counting stops immediately, and because no answer is left on the device, the question is asked again on your next visit.
Why most of it needs no permission
The rule that matters is not whether information leaves your browser. It is whether the storage exists to deliver something you asked for. Pinning a graph, arranging the grid, saving a map lens, choosing the dark theme — the storage is the feature. Take it away and the thing you asked for stops working, which is why it is exempt and why offering to switch it off would be a false choice rather than a kindness.
Why analytics is different
Nobody arrives wanting to be counted. Measurement is for us, not for you, so it is the one thing here that waits to be asked — nothing loads at all until you answer, and the cookieless option counts the visit without putting anything on your device. There is no advertising on this site, and no data is sold or shared for it.
What leaves your browser
Requests for the pages and data you look at, which reach the server the way any web request does, and — only with your consent — page views to Google Analytics. Live feeds are fetched by this site and cached here, so asking the map for trains does not tell Transport for London anything about you. Embedded graphs on other people’s sites never load analytics at all.
